Hi folks, as a young mother and woman, I invariably collect and use multiple products. I’ve decided to do a monthly post on “Empties” where I’ll give my honest opinion on each product, I’ve used up completely or I’m getting rid of. These include makeup, skin care, bath and shower, baby and lifestyle products. Each post will focus on 10 products and I’ll put purchase links with each of them. I hope you enjoy these mini reviews! Do follow my blog for more.

1.L’OREAL PARIS EXTRAORDINARY CLAY PURIFYING AND HYDRATING SHAMPOO:

This product is aimed at people with oily scalps and dry ends, a problem I suffer from.

The shampoo does a good job of removing oil and keeping it at bay for longer than other clarifying shampoos. However it isn’t free of chemicals, so beware of that.

It has a pleasant fruity smell and the product lasts a long time.

Price: INR 282 for 360 ml

2. THE BODY SHOP BRITISH ROSE EXFOLIATING GEL BODY SCRUB:

The Body Shop prides itself on using natural ingredients for its entire line. This product has a lovely fragrance of roses and contains gentle scrubs. It works well as a pre-shave applicator, though it won’t get rid of any serious dead skin cells like other heavy-duty body scrubs.

The packaging is sturdy and smart, and makes for a good gift, as it’s quite pricey!

Price: INR 1295 for 250ml

Rating: 4/5

3. SUAVE NATURALS EVERLASTING SUNSHINE BODY WASH:

This hypoallergenic body wash has a wonderful fragrance of candy and desserts! The product works well but is very expensive as it’s imported from abroad. Many other body washes available in India will perform the same, at a fraction of the cost.

Price: INR 575 for 354ml

Rating: 3/5

4. TRESEMME EXPERT SELECTION NEW BOTANIQUE NOURISH & REPLENISH SHAMPOO WITH OLIVE OIL AND CAMELLIA OIL:

This shampoo is on the expensive side, but claims to be free of nasties such as dyes and parabens. Unfortunately I didn’t like it much for my oily hair as I felt it didn’t clean the hair the way I wanted it to. It will be a better fit for people with dry and damaged hair. The product has a strong fruity smell. Currently there is a wonderful offer where you can get a free wireless waterproof radio to be used in the shower with any Tresemme product.

Price: INR 420 for 580 ml

Rating: 3/5 for oily hair

5. DIPROBASE CREAM EMOLLIENT BODY LOTION:

This cream is specifically for use on skin affected by eczema. However, it works well even on skin that isn’t eczematic. This is the best body lotion I‘ve ever used. It has the perfect consistency, neither too thick, nor too thin and spreads on the skin very easily. It’s an imported product hence it’s expensive and difficult to find on the Indian market, but it’s worth the hassle if you have dry skin or suffer from eczema. The smell is strong and unpleasantly medicinal but fades after a while.

Price: INR 1800 for 500 gms

6. FLORMAR LOOSE POWDER:

Unfortunately I ordered this product in a wrong colour, which was too dark to be used for baking under the eyes, or even as a face powder. You get a lot of product at a reasonable price and there is no white or grey flashback in flash photography.

This product used to be available on Nykaa and Amazon but is no longer sold on these websites.

7. COLORBAR LIPSTICK IN SHADE 05 M PASSION:

The formula of these matte lipsticks is very comfortable and the pigmentation is fantastic. I’m most impressed by the dark colours in the range. The lipsticks last a long time on the lips and don’t feel uncomfortable or ball up/ pill up around the edges of the lips like some other matte lip products. I highly recommend all shades and especially this one if you like dark berry shades. The price is also right!

8. L’OREAL PARIS MAT MAGIQUE ALL-IN-ONE MATTE TRANSFORMING COMPACT WITH SPF 34:

This compact powder is inexpensive, well designed and packaged and does a good job of keeping away oil. You get a mirror and a sponge, as well as sun protection. If you have excessively oily skin like I do, you‘ll have to keep touching up with this powder at least 2-3 times in the day.

Price: INR 470 for 6gms

9. L’OREAL PARIS BLACK LACQUER BY SUPERLINER WATERPROOF EYELINER:

I really disliked this liner. I wear eyeliner on a daily basis and I know what works and what doesn’t. This liner is thick and dry, so you have to keep dipping into the product multiple times to get a proper line. You also get very less product for the price.

Price: INR 600 for 6ml

Rating: 2/5

10. COLORBAR WATERPROOF LIQUID EYELINER IN SHADE BLACK:

This liner does everything the L’Oreal Paris one fails to do! It’s better priced to begin with and the brush is easy to work with. It applies a beautiful matte and strong line in just one application. You don’t have to keep dipping into the product. The only reason it’s not getting 5 stars from me is because I personally prefer felt-tip eyeliners. However, I highly recommend this and have already repurchased it!

Price: INR 300 for 2.5ml

Rating: 4.5/5
