The Family That Travels Together, Stays Together! #Momology

Advertisements

Traditional wisdom tells us that a family must eat together, to stay together. As a millennial raising a Gen Y kid, my take on this adage is slightly different. I feel the best way to connect with your family is to travel and explore together. Read on to know why travelling with family is extremely important.

  1. IT ENABLES YOU TO HAVE SHARED EXPERIENCES

The memories we create together are the essence of family life. These shared experiences tie each member of the family in an unbreakable bond. When the children are older, and busy in their own lives, these cherished memories will continue to tie us together.

  1. IT WIDENS YOUR HORIZONS

Travelling opens up new horizons for children. They’re able to experience the vastness and the variety of the world, in a way they can never experience it through books or TV.

  1. IT AIDS YOU IN CRITICAL THINKING

An intelligent child grows into an intelligent adult when he/ she starts thinking critically and analysing results themselves. When they’re exposed to different situations and circumstances through travel, their ability to think on their feet increases exponentially.

  1. IT PREPARES YOU FOR ANY EXIGENCY IN LIFE

Travellers experience a multitude of different situations and circumstances, they wouldn’t be exposed to at their home towns. This teaches them to be prepared for any exigency while travelling, and also generally in life.

  1. IT EXPOSES YOU TO NEW CULTURES AND TRADITIONS

Though we now live in a global village, it’s fascinating to experience the numerous different cultures, languages, religions, foods, traditions, and clothing styles; in person. You can keep returning to the same place to find new pleasures, as well as re-live your old favourites.

  1. IT TEACHES YOU TO BE INDEPENDENT

Travel teaches you to be independent, to take care of yourself and be aware of your surroundings. It alerts you to the dangers of the world, as well as the plethora of pleasures to be experienced.

  1. IT TEACHES YOU THE VALUABLE LESSONS OF EMPATHY AND HUMILITY

Travel teaches the valuable lessons of being empathetic to others as well as the importance of being humble. It also teaches the ability to put yourself in another person’s shoes and analyse situations from different perspectives.

That sums up my thoughts on family travel, and why I consider it important to keep travelling with children. My husband and I have been traveling with our 3 year old son since he was 2 months old. We’ve taken 3 international vacations, over 20 domestic vacations, and countless flights with him. Each moment has been precious for all three of us, and I’m looking forward to creating many more memories together! Do you travel with your little one’s? Tell me your thoughts in the comments, and also if you face any challenges.

I’ve written on this picture prompt.
