Hi everyone! Books have been my friends and happy place ever since I can remember. But now with the demands of work, home and motherhood calling on my time, I try to read strategically. 30 books is a fixed target every year, of which some are new works of fiction for my monthly book club, non-fiction books to hone my craft as a lifestyle journalist, and my favourites- Agatha Christie’s! I’m currently undertaking a years-long project called Project Poirot where I re-read all of Hercule Poirot’s mysteries in the order they were published. After about 3 years, I’m a little over the halfway mark – loving and savouring them.

Since I read plenty of non-fiction every year, I thought it would be nice to sign up and read along with a community this year!
According to the rules of this challenge , I will aim to read 6 non-fiction books across the different categories, which would make me a Nonfiction Nibbler. Here’s hoping I can stick to that goal!
Here are the categories:

I may not write individual reviews for each of the books I read on my blog, but I will certainly share my reviews on Goodreads and Instagram, so come follow me there if you would like to keep up.
Since I’ve hopped on here anyway, here’s a quick update on my current read, which also works for the History Category of the 2026 nonfiction reading challenge. I’m currently reading Ghosted: Delhi’s Haunted Monuments by Eric Chopra, and I will report back with my thoughts once I finish it.
In case you would like to buy a copy of the book, here you go: https://amzn.in/d/3vNWGDV

Here’s to a good reading year!

Delighted to have you join the the Nonfiction Reader Challenge, I look forward to seeing what you read!
🙂
I so wanted be a part of these book clubs and reading challenges. But never could I complete them. Good luck
🙂
Non – fiction is actually far more fun and rewarding and I look forward to your foray into that. Kudos to you for finishing half of Poirot books , there are quite a lot of them.
🙂
Actually I have finished them all over the years – right now I’m re-reading them!
Waiting for the review of Eric Chopra’s book. All the best for your reading challenge!
I didn’t like that book! Thanks 🙂
That’s an interesting non-fiction reading list. It makes sense for me to join too considering it might help clear my nonfiction TBR. Waiting to read your reviews.
🙂
All the best, Noor. I wonder how you manage to get time for reading with a toddler. My reading has become restricted to blogs and online articles only.
I have made a rule for myself – I have to read a book every night before sleeping. On days I’m extremely tired, I can only manage 1 or 2 pages but even that is better than nothing 🙂
That’s a tough challenge. All the best for that. For me it would have been next to impossible as I struggle with non-fiction.
I’ve given myself a target of 6 non-fiction books this year. Happy to say, I’m already almost done with 2. It’s about finding a subject that interests you!
Best wishes, Noor. Will wait to read your posts on them.
🙂
I am not much into non-fiction but I am looking forward to read your blogs and learn from them. Who knows I might pick a few too based on your reviews
🙂
Be it food, travel, or wellness, these are all the most useful topics. Its is good that you are reading a lot of non-fiction there will always be a lot to understand.
🙂
I loved reading this post—it really resonated with me as a fellow reader. I could feel the excitement and honesty about joining the 2026 nonfiction challenge. It made me reflect on my own reading goals and left me inspired to pick up a new book.
🙂
I don’t read non-fiction much and this challenge seems like a good idea to dive in. I might sign up too. Thanks, Noor!
Yes you can start with a target of just 3 non-fiction books in the whole year – it’s doable!
May I suggest a title for the humour category? 😀
Hint: It’s mine 😛
Awesome! Will do 🙂
Love this, Noor. But I would never think of a challenge like this. Reading with work and kids is not easy. Cheering for you. Hope you get many good reads.
Thank you!
Love this goal! Reading nonfiction across different categories sounds like such a refreshing way to expand perspective. And a two-year Agatha Christie project? That’s serious dedication! Wishing you the best for the 2026 challenge — can’t wait to see what you discover along the way.
🙂
Wow that’s a lovely challenge..I do enjoy reading non fiction more than fiction
🙂

First of all congratulations for taking out time to read books even when you are having a new baby responsibility on you and that deserves a round of applause. I will be waiting for the reviews from you. Keep Going and keep rocking.
Thank you! My rule is to read every night before sleeping – whether that’s 1 page or a chapter (or more!).
Wishing you lots of good reading, Noor! Looking forward to some interesting reviews here.
