Last winter, I wrote about young people working to help street animals (read the post here). One of the individuals from that post, Tejshree Savara, has since launched the We Exist Foundation, and the We Exist brand of pet accessories, for the welfare of Indian dogs. She recently took over the bar at Sly Granny restaurant in Delhi, to raise funds. Read on to know more and also for information on how you can contribute.

THE WE EXIST FOUNDATION:
Launched in 2018, this not-for-profit organization aims to improve the living conditions of underprivileged dogs in India. They organize vaccination, spaying and neutering drives, generously share resources with other animal shelters, and encourage adoption of neglected animals. They also have a research wing that looks into the genealogy of Indian dogs.
The foundation raises funds for these ventures, through the sale of premium pet products and accessories; donations and fundraisers; as well as through strategic partnerships with organizations with a similar purpose.

THE WE EXIST FOUNDATION’S ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR:
To battle the excruciating heat this past summer, the foundation launched a ‘water bowl initiative’, and placed concrete bowls in most residential colonies. November saw a ‘winter sterilization drive’ of 40 dogs, to make their rehabilitation in society easier. Further, 200 gunny beds were distributed as part of the ‘cozy bed initiative’. Since its launch, the foundation has been responsible for the adoption of 10 puppies in loving homes.
All these programs have been made possible by the sale of We Exist pet products, as well as through fundraisers, and product collaborations such as the special candles made by Paper Planes and Bombay Perfumery. The most recent fundraiser took place at Sly Granny, Khan Market.

THE BAR TAKEOVER AT SLY GRANNY, KHAN MARKET:
Since its launch in August 2018, Sly Granny has become a popular haunt in Khan Market, New Delhi. Its bevy of delicious cocktails and beautifully plated, tasty European dishes (read my Zomato review here), ensure long lines on a daily basis. Granny’s Parlour is the cozy area on the second floor of the property, ideal for private parties and events.
‘Bar Takeovers’ are being popularized by young entrepreneurs, who can either showcase their bartending skills, or raise funds for causes close to their heart. After a successful bar takeover at PDA (Zomato review here), GK-II Market; Tejshree teamed up with Arjun Guleria of Digital Marketing firm ‘Beam & Words’; to serve up some deliciousness for Delhi’s underprivileged animal community.
Four yummy drinks were curated specially for the occasion, which included ‘The Majestic Mastiff’, ‘The Royal Rajapalayam’ the ‘Red Rampur Hound’, and ‘The Bumbling Beagle’. I enjoyed my gin-based Rajapalayam thoroughly, sweetened further by the fact that its sale was contributing to a worthy cause.
HOW TO DONATE:
All details are given below. Please donate whatever you can to help our furry friends. To read about another organization working to preserve endangered animals on a larger scale, visit this post.

It looks like you had a great time. I haven’t been to Sly Granny yet but will definitely visit this place on my visit to New Delhi. Thank you for sharing your review.
Good to learn about such awesome initiative. I’m sure the bar takeover will definitely help the organization to help better the underprivileged animals.
Wow that’s such a wonderful cause that they are doing.placing the concrete bowls and driving vaccinations for the less privileged dogs is worth accolades.
This is really appreciable that bar takeover is doing such great activity towards the privileged dogs/animals. A good initiative by them.
A bar takeover is not an organisation Snigdha. It’s an activity that was carried out by the We Exist Foundation.
Glad to know about such an organisation working on a good cause for these innocent dogs. I am surely gonna share words about it

I’m so proud to see people like Tejashree are taking major steps to prove humanity exists. She needs more attention and more people need to be like her. This is a great initiative.
