Honest Review of Blur India Makeup Brand

Posted by

If youโ€™re active on social media, you must have come across the attractive makeup products of Blur India. As a makeup junkie, Iโ€™m always keen to try homegrown indie brands. I find that independent companies often produce unique products with excellent formulations, because they arenโ€™t constrained by corporate policies. So, I was most grateful to be sent a package by the team at Blur India to test out and share an honest review. I have now tried and tested many of their formulations and Iโ€™m ready to share my review of Blur India cosmetics.

Blur Indiaโ€™s makeup products cater to younger beauty enthusiasts. Their products are marketed as being easily accessible and fun. They promise high-quality, cruelty-free makeup that also packs an aesthetic punch. The products are also affordably priced. Customer input is taken into account for their formulations, textures and packaging, because they aim for their makeup to be inclusive.

Review of Blur India Makeup

The Signature Products of Blur India:

They have a number of popular products, most of which are colour-based items. There are numerous lip products (some of which can be used on the eyes and cheeks too), and eyeliners. But they donโ€™t have a line of base makeup products currently. The most popular products in the Blur India line (which I will review below) include:

Call Me Daddy Liquid Lipstick (in regular and mini size):

This unique formulation is both matte and moisturising so that your lips stay hydrated while the lipstick gives a matte look and stays in place. They promise up to 12 hours of wear and claim that the product is completely transfer-proof. I have the shades Chocolate Brown and Nude Pink in both regular and mini size.

Dude, Donโ€™t Touch My Gloss (in regular and mini size):

This product is described as a glossy lip tint and oil in one. It is supposed to have a non-sticky consistency with pigmentation and shine. It can also be used on the lips and cheeks, and contains Vitamin E to soften and hydrate your lips and skin.

Itโ€™s Giving Honey, Juicy Thick Lip Oil:

This thick lip oil contains hyaluronic acid and fruit extract. It promises to be pigmented, lightweight and non-sticky for long-lasting hydration with a glossy, mirror-like shine. I have the shades Honey (Gold), Caramel (Brown), Strawberry (Deep Pink), and Watermelon (Light Pink).

BLURSticks / 3 in 1 Bullets for Lips + Eyes + Cheeks:

This multitasking product has a velvet matte formula to keep your lips hydrated with a pigmented colour pay-off. The formula is suitable for use on eyes and cheeks as well. I have the shades ‘I’m Sorry, Are You Vodka’ (nude pink) and ‘Ladies and Gentlemen… ME!’ (nude brown).

Smells Likeโ€ฆ Solid Perfume:

Iโ€™ve saved the most interesting product for last, though it seems this may be one of the most popular offerings in the Blur India line. No review would be complete without it! Packed into a small, sliding tin, this solid block of perfume can be applied to your wrists, underarms and other parts of your face and body for long-lasting freshness. Owing to its shape and size, it’s super easy to throw into your bag. I have the scents ‘Fresh Cut Flowers’, ‘A Warm Hug’, ‘A Candy Store’ and ‘I’m Dipped in Berries’.

Other things to note before I share my review of Blur India Cosmetics:

Blur India is a vegan and cruelty-free brand, which means it doesnโ€™t test its products on animals and doesnโ€™t contain any animal-derived ingredients. Their star ingredients include avocado oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, ozokerite wax and mineral oils, among others. Apart from their website, you can purchase their products on Amazon, Myntra, Nykaa, Flipkart, Maccaron and Tira.

Review of Blur India Cosmetics:

Now that you have a full overview of the brand, itโ€™s time for me to share my review of Blur India products. What I really admire about the brand is its clean and cruelty-free tag. At 37, I may not qualify as their ideal target audience, but I can always appreciate a good makeup product โ€“ because makeup doesnโ€™t have an age limit!!

Their multitasking products are certainly useful for people on the go as they can slip a single product into their bag and get ready very quickly. However, I enjoy the process of makeup application, so I prefer to use individual products on the eyes, lips and cheeks.

Blur India definitely delivers on its formulations. When it says a lip product is โ€˜matte and moisturisingโ€™, that is exactly what you get โ€“ an item that is comfortable on the lips and also lasts for a long time. The liquid lipsticks didnโ€™t stay on my lips for 12 hours as was claimed, but definitely for a few hours. The glosses are lightweight and non-sticky, which makes them easy to wear. They also have good pigmentation which I feel is quite rare in gloss formulas. Of all the lip products, my favourite is the bullet lipstick because of its saturated pigmentation and comfortable feeling on the lips.

It was my first time trying Blur Indiaโ€™s solid perfumes. This product is quite an interesting one. Its packaging is pretty and can easily be added to your purse. The slide-out tin is discreet, so no one needs to know that youโ€™re re-applying perfume! The scents are fruity and floral โ€“ nice daytime scents that offer a quick refresh.

The packaging of the products is cute and unique, and the names are really funny, which makes them nice options for gifting too. And the best part is the price tag! On their website, you can get products at discounted rates as low as Rs 299 for the mini versions of the glosses and liquid lipsticks. After discounts, no individual product is priced higher than Rs 499 and the highest price is for the lip kits at Rs 999 which include multiple products.

So here is my honest review of Blur Indiaโ€™s products. Have you tried this brand? Which is your favourite product? Let me know in the comments section below!

  5. I like solid perfumes. I got two from Jordan, way back in 2016 and the fragrances have lasted till now! I am not very fond of chocolate brown colours in make-up though, more attracted to pinks. But I like the idea of using one thing for two, like lips and cheeks or lips and eyes, saves so much money.

  6. It’s always nice when someone you can trust gives a review. And because they are priced reasonably, I will choose lipsticks from them. Thanks for the honest review, Noor.
