You Gotta Try This Bean to Bar Chocolate Brand!

If you read my last blog post, you are aware that I was recently diagnosed with psoriasis. To cure this auto-immune disorder, I have embarked on a food journey eliminating the things from my diet which I’ve recently found out I’m allergic to. Unfortunately, gluten is a major allergen for me and it has been quite difficult to make the transition to a gluten-free diet. As someone with a prominent sweet tooth, the toughest part for me was to give up sweet treats. So, I was most excited when Indian homegrown artisanal bean to bar chocolate brand BeeTee’s Melt Chocolate sent over some of their gluten-free and preservative-free chocolates to try.

Based in Chennai, these bean to bar chocolate manufacturers produce handcrafted, gluten-free, 100% preservative free, refined sugar free and soy free chocolates. Their products are ISO 22000:2018 certified, GMP certified and their cacao beans are imported from single origin UTZ certified farms. “We are all natural, vegan, and micro batch,” says the founder Thamarai with pride, in a candid chat. Read on to know more about this bean to bar chocolate brand:

BeeTee’s Melt Chocolate is an Indian Bean to Bar Chocolate Brand

Noor (NAC): Hello and congratulations on the launch of your bean to bar chocolate brand! When did you launch  and what was your reason to launch it?

Thamarai (T): Hi and thanks for the warm welcome. We launched our artisanal bean to bar chocolate brand BeeTee’s Melt Chocolate in 2020. We wanted to create a brand that was completely made in India and that would give people a chance to eat better quality chocolate.

NAC: You have given your brand a very interesting name. What is the story behind it?

T: As a connoisseur of chocolate that has been in this field for quite a while, I can tell you the best way to eat chocolate, is to not bite or chew it. Instead, you should let it melt in your mouth and devour it in the right way to really enjoy the pleasure of its taste. This melting methodology is what we wanted to project through our name as well, and hence we settled on BeeTee’s Melt Chocolate.

NAC: Tell us about your product line-up. How many chocolates do you currently offer? And which are your most popular ones?

T: Currently, we offer three flavours of chocolate. These are:

  • 48% Milk Chocolate
  • 54% Coconut Milk Chocolate
  • 72% Dark Chocolate

I feel each one of these has carved a niche for itself with a diverse clientele and is equally popular.

NAC: How can one access your bean to bar chocolates and buy them? Are they available exclusively on your website or on third party retailers as well?

T: We retail our bean to bar chocolates through our website https://beeteesmelt.in/ and our chocolates are also available on third party retailers including the likes of Amazon, Flipkart and Bigbasket, so we have a pretty wide reach.

NAC: Your packaging is striking and quite quirky. Who has designed it? Does it have any significance?

T: I’m glad you like it because we put a lot of thought into it! Our packaging has been designed with numerous intricate details that explain our ingredients. It consists of a hand picking a bean, which indicates that our cacao beans are handpicked. Further, we showcase the various parts and stages of a cacao tree. The colours of the cover depend on the flavour. For example, our coconut chocolate cover is green indicating the tropical place where coconuts are grown widely.

NAC: How does BeeTee Melt stand apart from its Indian artisanal bean to bar chocolate competitors?

T: I believe we stand apart from other Indian artisanal bean to bar chocolate brands because our chocolates are vegan and completely free of refined sugar. We offer vegan milk chocolate and we don’t add vanilla which most artisanal chocolate makers in India add in their products.

BeeTee’s Melt Chocolate offers a number of bean to bar chocolates

NAC: What is the pricing of your bean to bar chocolates? Do you offer gift packaging?

T: Our artisanal chocolates are priced at ₹280 for a 55gm bar. Currently we don’t offer gift packing but from November we will have an option of tin packaging when the products are ordered through our website, which will certainly make for nice gifts.

NAC: What are your predictions for the future of the Indian chocolate-making industry, especially in light of the pandemic?

T: We have already seen a vast change in people, as they have started exploring and even preferring products that are made in India. The same is the case with bean to bar chocolates. I strongly believe that Indian chocolates will rule the globe someday. Through our brand, BeeTee’s Melt Chocolate, we hope to revolutionise chocolate making in India. As ours is one of the most populated countries in the world, many corporate brands depend on our country for sales, then why can’t our own chocolates do well? The pandemic has helped a lot as well, as it has given us the ability to reach people located in different parts of the country virtually.

NAC: What’s next on the cards for BeeTee Melt Chocolates? Any new products being launched soon?

T: Yes, we have some exciting plans lined up. We will be launching quite a few new products soon, and I urge everyone to stay tuned to our social media handles and our website for the announcement of these launches.
