In February of this year, I attended a private concert at the home of a family friend in Delhi, where the Niazi Nizami Brothers, the famed Sufi Qawwals of Nizamuddin Dargah, regaled the audience with their powerful music. In a year beset with major upheavals, that memory is easily one of the best I have from 2020. When I heard that ShowCase Studio was organising a virtual talk show and performance by this uber talented group on 4th of October, I rushed to book a seat, so I could relive that magical evening.
ShowCase Events, the parent company of ShowCase Studio, creates, curates and executes experiences. The company is best known for creating special moments, digitally and virtually and before the pandemic, in real time as well. ShowCase has expertise in organising conferences, exhibitions, concerts, product launches or any kind of digital engagement activity, seamlessly in the virtual space. Their cutting-edge technological models ensure that each virtual event is unique and offers spectators a chance to feel they are viewing it in reality, through the use of 2D and 3D avatars. Apart from organising events online, another forte of the company’s digital wing is the production of AV’s and short films.
ShowCase Studio, the latest addition to the wide repertoire of services offered by ShowCase Events, is an attempt to bridge the growing gap between the audience and the artists. This one-of-a-kind talk show brings the candid honesty of artistes across genres, to the homes of the audience, every Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
From music to theatre, stand-up comedy to fashion, the varied subjects will appeal to a wide range of viewers. Each episode is hosted by a renowned journalist or an expert in the particular field, leading to a thought-provoking discussion with the guest of the day. The riveting conversation is supplemented by impromptu performances by the artistes- a live treat hard to come by these days! After hosting award-winning legends like Nathulal Solanki, Sonam Kalra and Sunita Bhuyan, this Sunday’s episode features the renowned Sufi Qawwals from the Dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia, descendants of the rich 750-year lineage.
In a truly unique format, eminent music journalist Narendra Kusnur, known for his encyclopedic knowledge of varied musical genres, will speak to the brothers Imran, Hasan and Haider. The conversation will be about their moving Sufi music and its beautiful heritage, along with live performances of songs including ‘Khwaja Mere Khwaja’, ‘Kun Faya Kun’ and other beautiful pieces, for a throwaway price of INR 100.
In true pre-pandemic fashion, the show will not be available as a recording to be viewed later. Hence, I recommend that you put everything aside and join me this Sunday for a mesmerising performance, from the comfort of your home. I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday evening with family…. Can you?!

They are awesome.I heard them live in Falaknuma palace Hotel, Hyderabad. Will surely try to tune in.
Oh yes they are fabulous! And they need all the support they can get right now since they are not being patronised or invited to perform because of the pandemic. Do buy a ticket as all sales will go to them, or share it with friends who are free and interested 🙂

And do remember it is all for a good cause as they have not been patronised much during the last few months of the pandemic and are finding it difficult to sustain their art and music.
